My desire to bring this fabulous website to you was based on actually using the site while I was working in Santa Barbara, California. The site was user friendly, informative and it was everything I needed being a busy single mom while running a successful motel in Santa Barbara.
My foundation has always been based in the hospitality industry for many years. I started at the then Westin Ilikai hotel as a front desk clerk. When Westin Maui opened, I jumped at the opportunity and moved to Maui to open the luxurious hotel. I started as front office supervisor and worked my way up to Assistant Manager. On a trip back to Honolulu, I saw the Sheraton Moana Hotel all boarded and enclosed. I just knew that something wonderful was happening behind those wooden frames obscured to any passers-by. It was a calling, I suppose, for when the Moana Hotel started hiring, I was right there and part of the second hiring phase. And I was right, the Moana was pure splendor and I was thrilled to be a part of their front desk team. I worked my way up to supervisor, then Guest Service Manager in the eleven years there.
A French based company, Accor Hotels, found me and offered me a job being a General Manager at one of their motels in beautiful, upscale Santa Barbara. An opportunity I couldn't refuse. It was a chance to finally see the states on my own and truly test my skills. After seven years and a successful General Manager of the Year Award it was time to return home. And I knew that I wasn't going to come home without bringing AlohaParent.com with me. To me, it is a site geared for a typical, busy and caring parent...like you. My goal is to keep the site fun, easy to use and informative. Also to use AlohaParent.com to get involved in community projects and efforts that showcase the Spirit of Aloha for our keiki and the betterment of community.
