In it's 66th season of outstanding Broadway musicals starting September 4 - 20, the Army Community Theatre starts with "Oliver", based on the classic novel by Charles Dickens.
Are Komodo Dragons nocturnal? You'll find out on this extraordinary adventure during a night at the Zoo together with your keiki. Participants will be treated to pizza, tours and a campfire with s'mores. Then you get to find out how it feels to wake up with the animals while you have your breakfast and a morning stroll. This ceremony marks the offical beginning of the 2008 Aloha Festivals even on O'ahu. Traditional hula and chant introduce our O'ahu Royal Court on the grounds of the beautiful and stately 'Iolani Palace.

Follow the Beautiful Floral Parade as it will lead you Kapiolani Park where you will witness the Hapa Haole Hula Competition.
The beauty and pagentry of the Aloha Festivals Parade celebrates it's 62th anniversary. Floating down Kalakaua Avenue, the floral concoptions, bands, troupes and groups are sure to delight. Be early to get a good seat! Follow the last float down Kalakaua to Kapiolani Park where you will be able to take pictures of the floats and enjoy arts and crafts at the same time.
Welcome to the 6th Annual Keiki Sprint Race held at the safe confines of Hawaiian Waters. The triathlon includes a Swim, Bike and Run and the distance will vary depending on age group. All competitors are required to bring their own bike and helmet. As an example, the first contest will be held for the 7 - 10 year olds group, and it will consist of a 100-meter swim, 3-mile bike and 1 - mile run. Aloha Tower Marketplace will host their 3rd annual Ukulele Contest. The event will feature amateur ukulele players (defined as those who do not play the ukulele for a living) vying great prizes and a chance to be a representative of the 2008 Aloha Festivals. There will be prizes, activities, ukulele lessons and live entertainment for the whole family. Best of all, admission is FREE!

Timing for the 5k is optional. 5k entrants who would like to receive an official time and be eligible for age group awards must pay an optional $2 timing chip fee. ChampionChip timing chips will be distributed at Packet Pick Up. The Let Me Play 1 Mile is not timed and is encouraged for kids 12 and under and their parents; however, both events are open to runners and walkers of all ability levels. Parents are encouraged to participate in the same event as their children.
Dance and music play as important a role in the Lakota Sioux culture as they do for the Hawaiian people. Likewise there is a depth beyond what you may have seen in film and television. It has been over a decade since the group last performed in Hawai‘i. Given the enthusiastic reception from audiences, that is far too long between visits. Their performances are in high demand but they are always as pleased to perform in Hawai‘i as we are to have them.
Every third Sunday is Bank of Hawaii's Free Family Sunday! Bank of Hawaii Family Sundays feature entertainment and activities suitable for families and people of all ages. The goal is to provide new and interesting ways to explore the Academy’s galleries through gallery scavenger hunts, art activities, demonstrations, film screenings and entertainment. Themes change monthly and tie in with the Academy’s permanent collections and special exhibitions.This months theme is "A Feel For Texture." The Pavilion Cafe is also open during this special event from 11:30am - 2:00PM, reservations are highly recommended.

What is it like to be, to be a Hermit Crab? And why do they wear an anemone on their shells? Fashion? Now you and your keiki team will have a chance to explore the life a hermit crab up close and personal. After your team has met the crabby crustaceon, you will have a chance to design a hermit crab of your very own. Fee is $16 adult/chid team, $12 members.

The events, titled Lei Ko'a - Exploring the Reefs that Surround our Islands, are offered free of charge and will provide both residents and visitors alike a glimpse of the marine life that emerges from their hiding places only at night. The summer evening programs will take place on the fourth Saturday of each month from 6-9 p.m. from June to September.
Every year since it's inception in 1981, the Century Bike Ride has increasingly become the most popular biking event on O'ahu. The non-competitive nature and the choices of routes a cyclist can take make this more of an enjoyable ride rather than a race. Starting at Kapiolani Park, riders are able to choose from 20, 25, 40, 50, 75 and 100 miles depending on ability and preference. The ride takes them along the beautiful East O'ahu Coastline venturing as far north as Kahalu'u for the experienced. The finishers will be greeted to live entertainment and food booths at the finish line. Event starts at 6:15 am at Kapiolani Park.
